Rosie: I
Rosie: just, did you see that? I just spilled my drink everywhere. Whoopsies! Um,
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: on you.
Rosie: ew! It's a squirter.
Welcome to the Rosie Show. Marba. Good day.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Rosie, are you someone who would easily cry?
Rosie: Oh, no, hang on. I said no straight away. Hmm. I don't think I do. And I, I, why are you asking deep questions? I thought you said this was fun. Ugh. Oh,
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: in a minute. That's
Rosie: okay. Better be. It better be fun.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: it.
Rosie: I, crying's a good release. I don't cry in [00:01:00] public much. Like, if you see me cry in public, I'm in a bad way. If it's with friends or family, of course, I'm very comfortable crying, but if I'm in a public place like the workplace or something like that, yeah, no, I wouldn't, it wouldn't be easy for me to cry.
Rosie: I'd go in private and then I would bawl my eyes out.
Rosie: So I guess it's easy for me to cry. Yeah,
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: holding your cry? You
Rosie: I'd get,
Rosie: I'd probably be angry. I'd put on a, put on a armor. And then I'd just fall apart when I have the chance to.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Hmm. And do you cry while watching a movie or
Rosie: Oh yeah, I do. I do actually. Okay, yeah, I think I cry easily. Fine. Fine.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: You know, that's interesting. These are two different things. I cry very easily on, if I watch an, even an, an ad on TV. About [00:02:00] cars, even cry. I would cry to anything on TV. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you know, this cry where I'm sitting next to someone, my husband or my children, and I'm like just trying to pretend I'm not crying, and then keep it inside. to cough or do something like, I'm not crying, I'm just behaving normal. Oh, I do cry a lot. And these things. But in personal life, I do cry a lot too.
Rosie: Cry baby. Although I feel like you're always trying to put on a positive front. It's very rare. Well, when we're talking anyway, for you to go, oh, it's just too much. You might have a moment where it's hard and then you go, no, it's fine. It's all good. It's okay.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Mm, maybe that's why I have so much headache.
Rosie: Yeah, true. Exactly.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: yeah. Like, I feel, no, I don't cry. If I cry, I will get a terrible migraine.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Like, if I
Rosie: [00:03:00] No.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I will have a terrible migraine.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Like, my biggest fear, sobbing. And when it happens, my migraine is like for three, four days.
Rosie: Oh my God.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: watching TV or, uh, love crying and laughing, I'm fine, I'm fine with that, yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: But I, I, I do cry, yeah.
Rosie: Yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Did you have, okay, this is something maybe other can relate to. This is really hilarious and sad and everything. So when my father passed away,
Rosie: Mm
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I went to, to Lebanon and, uh, so it was the funeral, the whole, like it's, the room is full of people and people are coming. It's like three days where people can come and go and, uh, for the condolences. And I think I have not laughed from my heart so out loud in my life, like these three days,
Rosie: no.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: [00:04:00] it was like, people coming in, I haven't seen for 20 years,
Rosie: Yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: about it. Memories and how we did things. And my father was a remarkable man. So there was a lot to laugh about. Um, and we were like crying and everyone coming in.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: We're hugging and so happy to see each other, etc. I never laughed this much. But I remember after this was over and I went back to the Netherlands. I did not stop crying for a whole week.
Rosie: Oh my gosh. Yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: You know, but that was the last time I cried, uh, because my pa papa passed away.
Rosie: Wow.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: So it was like, I I let it all out, and it's
Rosie: And that's it. You're done.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: that's it, that's it. But if I go to someone else's funeral, even if I don't know these people,
Rosie: You won't be laughing. Yeah, you're crying.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I would cry. If they want someone to make other people cry, they should invite me to a funeral. I mean, to a wedding![00:05:00]
Rosie: God, crying
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: a
Rosie: is weird. There's like different types of crying.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Yeah! It
Rosie: You've really got me thinking about this. It's weird because there can be happy tears, sad tears, like sobbing is a type of crying. It's very different to just if a tear drips down your face, just one tear.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Oh, I, uh, yeah, only when I'm watching TV, one tear drip down my face like you
Rosie: You try to try to wipe your eyes. I'm not crying. I'm not crying.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Yeah, that's only, only for TV, I, I have one tearful. Oh, goodness. I don't know why I brought this topic. Oh, I know why.
Rosie: You remember
Rosie: old lady.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: my neighbor was telling me that her husband, he, can cry about anything and everything.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Right. And he's like a man in his, [00:06:00] uh, late 60s. And then I asked her, but can you talk about his emotions easier? She said, Nope.
Rosie: Yeah. Well,
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I found this incredible contrast.
Rosie: so, oh, so you're saying he cries at anything, but he can't talk about his emotions.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Yes.
Rosie: I thought you were saying he couldn't cry. I'm like, well, that makes sense.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: He cries about everything. And, and she gave me a few examples. Probably.
Rosie: Wow. That's his release then. Wow. Yeah. It's his release. Cause he won't talk about it. So he just cries at the silliest things. Talk about your feelings, people. Come on. Not that
Rosie: crying's bad. Crying's good. But talking's good, too.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Okay. But we have to normalize when we cry while watching a movie or whatever. It's so embarrassing.
Rosie: People have made fun of me before, yeah. Yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Why? Because you
Rosie: Because it's just a movie, it's not real.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: But when they make fun of you, it helps them not cry.
Rosie: Yeah, true. It's a [00:07:00] defence mechanism. Gosh, yeah, take that. Yeah. I'm strong because I cry.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: That is what I Yes, it's funny. But that was about crying and laughing hilariously. It's also I miss laughing hilariously.
Rosie: I haven't done that in a long time. Yeah. Like laughing until it hurts. Yeah. Yeah, or laughing
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: specific people where with them, you know, you're laughing? Yeah,
Rosie: and It's probably mom and dad when I was a kid. Honestly, I have a couple of friends from high school Who I laugh really hard with I don't think I've laughed till I've cried with them But definitely with mom and dad and sometimes you're laughing you're crying it hurts. You can't stop And you just can't even remember what you're laughing at in the first place.
Rosie: Or sometimes it's something that isn't even funny and it just sets you off.[00:08:00]
Rosie: Do you ever do that?
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: no, I have. I have now a very funny memory. Um, well, I have a friend. I see her maybe once every year or once every 10 years because she doesn't live in the Netherlands. But the moment we meet, we know it's laughing our ass off guarantee.
Rosie: that. Yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Um, but the memory that I have about laughing like crazy. I was visiting my mom and she's sick at my sister.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: So my older sister always come over and stays with us when I visit them. then we see we put like a huge mattress in the big living room of my sister and we sleep there. The thing is, we have to carry the sheets, the blankets, the cushions, everything, to make it as a bed. And one day, my sister and I, we found ourselves standing in front of a huge mirror. In the dining room of my sis, she has a [00:09:00] mirror. And she and I were both looking alike, wearing my mom's I'm wearing a pink, she's wearing a blue, carrying in tons of blankets, and a water bottle in our hand.
Rosie: Is she short like you?
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: no, she stole her.
Rosie: Oh, she's tall and you're short. You'll love it.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Why are you talking about, why are you even asking this question?
Rosie: Oh, sorry. I need to visualize it. It makes it funnier, the contrast.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: her, she stole her. I'll send you the picture.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: we turned around, we looked at the mirror, we saw each other. And in this, this
Rosie: Yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: characteristic way, we couldn't stand up anymore from laughing. For more than half an hour, we
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: gone. Totally gone.
Rosie: It's just like being a child again. Carefree. I
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Absolutely.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: yeah, I mean, I just think we should seek people that make us love our ass off.[00:10:00]
Rosie: Yeah. Need to let go a bit.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: And what does it mean, laugh your ass off? It's like your
Rosie: Yeah. Actually. Yeah. Do you shit yourself or something? That makes no sense.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: No sense.
Rosie: There's one, there's one, um, it's not used much anymore, but back in my day when MSN was a thing, you probably don't even know what that is, but it's like instant messaging. You do. Okay. Of course,
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: a telling Gen that Gen X doesn't know what MSN is.
Rosie: I'm sorry. Okay. Wow.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: disk time.
Rosie: Me too. Me too. Floppy disk for a thing for me. Okay. Anyway. Uh, I forgot. What was I saying?
Rosie: Oh yeah. Ms. Um, yes, there was this thing. Rofl, R O F L, rolling on the floor, laughing. I feel like that is a more accurate description. Laugh my ass off. What does that even [00:11:00] mean? But rolling on the floor laughing.
Rosie: I can imagine doing that.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Ruffle.
Rosie: Yeah. Rofl.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: like when your sides start hurting.
Rosie: It just hurt. Yeah. You can't stand properly. Yeah.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Okay, so how about you and I, instead of using LOL, we start using RUFFLE.
Rosie: Okay. Ruffle. We're going to do that when we WhatsApp each other.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: what it stands for?
Rosie: Rolling on the floor laughing.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Okay. RUFFLE. I love it.
Rosie: Even the sound of it's funny. Ruffle, ruffle.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Yeah, okay. We're gonna do this. RUFFLE. That was my question. The crying, crying from laughter, crying from sadness. Um. It's not nothing, but just, um, I hope we will find the people we can ruffle with
Rosie: Let's ruffle guys. Tell us who your ruffle people are.
Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Just tell us who your ruffle people are. Thank you. Bye bye.
