Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Almost

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: haven't.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: ends up with you laughing. I love it.

Rosie: I laugh in every episode. Yeah, you're very, you're very contained. Just letting you know. Your laughs are quiet. Mine are just like

Rosie: All right. Should I start?

Welcome to the Rosie Show. Marba. Good day.

Rosie: Roula. Oh

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Rosie.

Rosie: god, why did I do that?

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Are you now?

Rosie: I am gonna ruffle. Go listen to yesterday's episode everyone, where we talk about ruffling. Rolling on the floor laughing. That aside though, Roula. I don't have a question today but I want to talk about something on my heart, on my mind, [00:01:00] on my skull. am shaving all my hair off tomorrow and I'm live streaming it on TikTok

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Decision is made.

Rosie: and Facebook. The decision is made, you cannot change my mind,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Oh, your mind,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I?

Rosie: I don't know. Some people have tried. I don't know. I told my great aunt on the phone and she said, Oh my God! And she's someone who usually doesn't really have any emotions, no big reactions, but she shouted out,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I

Rosie: and she just said, Oh, well, it'll grow back. I think she's just a very conservative person. And, yeah,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: So, tell me, tell me, because I

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: about your great,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: aunt. So, why do you want to shave your head?

Rosie: Uh.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: in our episode about [00:02:00] washing your head with shampoo, and we talked about shaving

Rosie: Yes. Okay. This is a big part of it. I don't think I appreciate having hair. I just, for some women that very attached to the hair and they love styling it and having it down and take a lot of care. I abuse my hair. It's always just pulled back in a messy bun or a ponytail. And you know, it's always greasy cause I can't be bothered washing it.

Rosie: And I don't know the last time I brushed my hair and it occurred to me. Maybe a week ago, possibly less. I'm like, well, why do I need hair, actually? I find it so annoying! So why do I just have it? I don't even remember the last time I went to a hairdresser. I just don't care about, like I just, it's just,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: because it made a lot of difference when I saw you.

Rosie: when?

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: It was, we were still in the community call.

Rosie: I think my friend cut it though, it wasn't even a hairdresser.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: okay.

Rosie: Yeah, I don't think it was even even. [00:03:00] So yeah, I haven't cut my hair since then. When was that? Last year, mid last year. Okay,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: But you're also doing it, I'm going to come back to your hair.

Rosie: okay, okay.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I think you're also doing it for an important cause, aren't you?

Rosie: Ah,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: Or

Rosie: you're making me uncomfortable. Okay, yes. Well, when you say important cause, it makes me squirm a bit. Because to me an important cause is, you know, a lot of people shave their head for charity. You know, raise money for that. I'm shaving my head. Yes. For personal reasons. It's, I feel, I think it's going to be liberating and I want to see what it's like.

Rosie: And I'm really excited, but also I am doing it, I suppose, for entertainment reasons for other people, because I'm hoping they will donate money to help me replace my van's electrical system. It's going to cost five to 10, 000, right? So I'm hoping they'll give, and you're saying that's an important cause.

Rosie: And I feel [00:04:00] embarrassed when you say that.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: can I tell you why it's important?

Rosie: Yeah, why?

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: the reality, Rosie, if you don't fix this freaking battery, you don't have a home.

Rosie: Well, I have a home, but it just doesn't function. Well, I have a home at a caravan park plugged in. Yeah, it's not the home I want. It's not the home I want. Yeah.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: it's not like you, you have an apartment you can go to,

Rosie: Oh, I see what you mean. Yeah.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: You are depending. is it. This is your home. You will be either like couch surfing or trying to figure out where to go. You're underestimating how important your battery is. So now

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: at the park, but if you want to plug in and live at the park, wouldn't leave your house.

Rosie: Yeah. Right. What's the point? I moved into a van so I would have location freedom and I could be in nature. I don't really like being in [00:05:00] caravan parks because you're close to people and there's no privacy. So, yeah, it's not ideal, but I still, it does feel uncomfortable asking for help when it's for me. If someone else was doing this, I'd happily give my money and support them, but the table's a turn and I just feel so.

Rosie: Strange about it

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: think of all the people that will happily donate for you

Rosie: already,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: you know, yeah, I see it's amazing. It's, um,

Rosie: you know, like you've given and yeah, they do. It's blown my mind. People on social media who I have never, ever met have given me money, hundreds of dollars, and it's, it's just like, wow, the generosity and the trust. even though it's for me and not charity. I like it. It astounds me.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: look through your podcast and your work and maybe even [00:06:00] this podcast. I think people are getting to know you, especially through your podcast. You're so authentic and open and honest. Um, it's, it's a good thing. So your podcast does represent you. And even if you're on social media, you're authentic, you're representing every one of us. The difference is that we wish we have the freedom to just unplug our house and move to a location where we want.

Rosie: This is true. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm glad you, you see me as showing up authentically. That's important to me. And I'm attracted to people who show up authentically too. Like you are very authentic person. There's no bullshit with you.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: to like,

Rosie: Oh, fine. Fine. Oh,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I'm here to tell you, I'm so glad we're talking about this on this episode, because maybe, not maybe, surely, next Monday when we meet, your head will be shaved.

Rosie: it will. [00:07:00] When we record our next episodes, my head will be shaved. Yeah.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: are you shaving it? Sorry, I keep interrupting you because the episode is So

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I want so

Rosie: freaking rude. Yeah. Go on. Hurry up. Yes.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: you going to shave it, like, to the skin or are you going to

Rosie: Oh, this is such a good question. Okay. So tomorrow when I do it, I'm just going to use the buzzer to shave it, but I would love to use a razor and have a skin shave. I'm a bit nervous though, cause I have very sensitive skin and sometimes I get razor rash. And I don't want like spots all over my head.

Rosie: So I think I need to learn how to look after my head first. It's something I want to try, but I'm not doing it straight away.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: All right, all

Rosie: If that makes sense.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: who me shaved my head and I know how it's progress. There's a phase between when you're completely bald and your hair starts growing. That is beautiful.

Rosie: Really?

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: feeling ever when your hair [00:08:00] starts growing. It's just amazing. And then you have to be very patient after that.

Rosie: It's gonna take a while.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: a snapback hat. You can

Rosie: I guess so.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: put something on your head if you don't like it.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: But in in general, it's, I experienced it as a wonderful process.

Rosie: I can't wait. Hearing your positive experience and a few other people have reached out to me and they just, they've had such positive experiences. Some of them have stayed bold, they've chosen, they don't want to grow their hair back because it feels so amazing. I'm like, wow, I can't wait to have this feeling, whatever it is.

Rosie: And I'm wondering if I'll get emotional. Like, I don't know how I'm going to react when I see myself with a shaved head.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: you might cry and say,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: did I do?

Rosie: I hope not. I don't think that'll happen.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: but

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: word fuck.

Rosie: probably. Probably. Yes. [00:09:00] That sounds like me. Yes.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I'm so excited, so excited for you. You have to let me know tomorrow what time I have to be online. I don't have

Rosie: Oh, no, no, no. I'll put it on Facebook too. I just got to figure out how to do it. Yes. And you have to like it and comments and support me. I want to celebrate with everybody. It's a party.

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: I'm very happy for you. You go for this, girl. And I really hope that, uh, by the time we publish the Roula and Rosie show, your, um, link for donation is still open. And even though I know you're

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: to talk about this, that's why I'm saying it. If you're listening to the show. you want to help Rosie keep her home. And it's not that she's not doing everything in her power to invest in herself and in her home, but the costs are so high that it's too much for her. She can't handle it her own. I mean, I have a partner helping me. You're on your [00:10:00] own. So please donate for Rosie. Every single dollar will make a difference. And thank you for

Rosie: it's true,

Roula -The Rosie & Roula Show: for this episode.
